EORI CODE RECEIPT AND VERIFICATION

An EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) code is a unique identification number that is required for all economic operators carrying out import, export or transit operations in the EU. It is governed by the EU Customs Code (
Regulation (EU) No 952/2013
). A single EORI code is valid in all EU countries, so it does not need to be repeated in each Member State. This code helps customs authorities to quickly identify companies and their operations and promotes the transparent, efficient movement of goods across borders.

Why do I need an EORI code?

EORI registration is mandatory for the following persons and entities:

• Enterprises that carry out
  import-export activities outside the EU
  ;
• For traders involved in customs procedures (
  transit, warehousing, etc.
  );
• For carriers operating in international logistics chains;
• For foreign companies wishing to trade with Lithuania or other EU countries.
• The EORI code is used for all customs declarations, Intrastat reports and transit procedures.

Without an EORI code, customs declarations cannot be made and the entry or exit of goods may be suspended.

EORI code: how to get one?

To obtain an EORI code in Lithuania, you must:

1. Log in to the Customs Authorisation System (CIS) via the Electronic Government Gateway (
   epaslaugos.lt
   );
2. Fill in the online EORI request form with the exact details of the company or person;
3. Submit your application to Customs via the system;
4. Approval is usually received within 1-2 working days.

The code is issued free of charge and covers all EU Member States. The EORI code is valid indefinitely, unless the company goes out of business.

• Foreign companies operating through Lithuanian warehouses must also obtain an EORI in Lithuania.
